Social Media Tattoo

Ever the advocate of body art, the opportunity to discuss a recent contest offered by Tattoolizator.com was just too good to pass up.

The contest is hosted by Russian millionaire Egor Lavrov (a huge social media advocate) who promises to get the design with the most votes tattooed on his body, despite what it says or how it looks. Each entry costs $1 with part of the proceeds going to charity and part going to one lucky contestant. Lavrov also vows to help the most talented artists in the contest gain international recognition.

Does anyone else see the genius in this? This contest has all the elements of great PR: a great draw (Lavrov is a celebrity in South America and Russia), opportunity (for the unrecognized artist), social interest (everyone from college students to soccer mom’s are getting tattooed) and the promise of embarassment (should the tattoo with the most votes be ridiculous).

A shining example of new PR.
